Canine Dementia Treatment - New Drug Approval

February 14, 2021Updated Feb 17, 2026

Ten days ago, a drug called Crisdesalazine (JedaCure Chewable) made by GNT Pharma was approved as a veterinary medicine.

After administering it to 48 dogs with dementia for 4-8 weeks, all 48 showed positive effects.

I also live with a 17-year-old senior dog, and while there are no dementia symptoms yet, I'm seriously considering purchasing this drug.

I hope it hits the market soon.

Additionally, canine dementia shares nearly identical causes with human dementia, so clinical trials are underway. If the trials are completed successfully, a dementia treatment for humans may not be far off.
